Dimensions of crane hooks

The hook

Crane hooks are produced by hammer forging or drop forging. Crane hooks can be made with a safety device against the release of the suspended load or without a safety device. If, when the load is placed, it could be released from the crane hook, the STN EN 13135 standard requires that the hook be equipped with a safety catch or prevent it in some other way.

Type of hooks according to DIN 15401 ( single hooks ) and DIN 15402 ( ramshorn hooks ):

- RS - drop forged (S) unmachined part (R) without nose

- RSN - drop forged (S) unmachined part (R) with nose (N)

- RF - hammer forged (F) unmachined part (R) without nose

- RFN - hammer forged (F) unmachined part (R) with nose (N)

They are most often produced drop forged hooks with nose - RSN type and strength class P

Single hook DIN 15401 - RSN 5 - P

Ramshorn hook type RSN No.10 of strength class T:

Ramshorn hook DIN 15402 - RSN 10 - T
